we used to be BC Carpenters, then we became CMAW with no mention of our carpenter heritage; soon we will be known as CMAW-CEP Local 2010-C. where is the Canadian Autonomy in that?
post your comments here, there isn't anywhere else to state your views on this topic, certainly not at the official CMAW site.

CMAW locals must say NO to CEP affiliation
This is a 180 degree turn for me, but I just read the affiliation agreement handed out at our union meeting last night and am appalled that we are being railroaded into another organization headed by a megalomaniac. There is no way I am voting to give up our Local's freedom to decide our own future by affiliating to the CEP and be at the complete mercy of the whims of Dave Coles after we voted for Canadian autonomy and dumped Doug McCarron, the despot that runs the UBCJA International.
It will take a majority of CMAW members across Canada to vote to for the BC carpenters to disaffiliate with the CEP should the relationship go south, and it must be done in an 18 month window and never again will the opportunity arise. Even then we have to go hat in hand to the CEP and it has to be approved by one despot named Dave Coles, the CEP President - as if that will ever happen. This affiliation agreement sounds a lot like the 33 Bylaws imposed by the International - a deja vu all over again. I will be encouraging all of Local 2300 members to vote against the affiliation agreement.
fraternally, Dave "Doc" Livingston, warden, Local 2300
